DO YOU KNOW? 

30 per cent of Sooke's population is more than 55 years of age, and that total is expected to double in the next 20 years. Sooke is one of the only communities without a dedicated 'seniors' gathering centre, as the Sooke Senior Drop in Centre lost its permanent home in 2010.

The Gathering Place will provide a much-needed drop-in space for the community, space for activities, crafting, dining, games, and socializing. The space will also incorporate a youth/intergenerational component and the facility will be rentable to the larger community for events. 

Sooke desperately needs this space and we're working really hard to make it happen!

YOU CAN HELP!

We are having another Small Business Challenge to benefit the building of the Sooke Gathering Place Activity Centre. This time the challenge will run from June 1st to Nov 30th. This is a great opportunity to show your customers your amazing community spirit! We encourage you to participate!

YOU DECIDE WHEN AND HOW

1) How long you wish to run your challenge for (ie. 1 month, 3 months or 6 months – totally up to you!)

2) In what ways are you able to raise funds? Some ideas include:

• Donation box at your point of sale, or a donation button on your register
• A percentage of all sales, or of certain items/services
• Matching donation drive
• Internal staff challenge – get your employees involved too!

Your involvement automatically includes marketing (social media and website) where your promotion will be repeatedly posted across our region. 

We have a dedicated designer available to help you with marketing your specific promotion.

EARN A LEAF & MORE!

The Sooke Gathering Place will feature a “Sponsor Recognition Wall” that includes an upscale 3D art installation of a large, brushed metal tree-of-life with flowing brushed metal leaves flowing from it across the walls. $5K will earn you a leaf engraved with your business or family name. Your donations made over time count towards your leaf!
